What is ReBRAT?

ReBRAT stands for Recursive Batch Rename and Attribute modification Tool. It is a tool for Windows to change filenames and/or extensions to upper-/lowercase, convert to DOS 8+3 filenames, remove spaces from filenames and force a certain combination of file attributes to be set or not set.

ReBRAT is free and open source.

Features:

  • filename/file extension modifications: to uppercase, to lowercase, to DOS 8+3 filename, remove spaces
  • attribute modifications: force read only / system / hidden / archive to be set or not set
  • modifies all files in a directory specified by a file mask (such as *.*, *.htm)
  • can include all subfolders
  • supports drag and drop for start directory
  • adds shell extension to call ReBRAT from a folder in Windows Explorer or on the desktop
  • bilingual version (english, german)

System requirements:

Windows 95/98/Me, Windows NT4, Windows 2000

Changes in version 1.4:

  • Problem with context menu in folders with spaces in their name fixed.
  • Problem in root folders fixed.
  • Uninstall bug (context menu is not removed) fixed.
